The Grand Harbour Hotel is proud to be not only recognised as the only hotel in Southampton, but one of a limited number of businesses within the area to be part of the Geothermal Power Scheme. This is where water is drawn from the Wessex Basin Aquifer at a depth of 1800 metres and a temperature of 76 degrees centigrade. This scheme is self-sustaining and as a result the Grand Harbour does not heat water on the premises and does not require boilers.
Additionally, the Grand Harbour Hotel has an environmental team who ensure processes are in place to conserve energy, and that team members and guests do all they can to support our policy. This includes encouragement to turn lights off, save paper by discouraging the printing of electronic messages and reusing towels when staying for more than one night to reduce the use of detergents.
